The Issues

High Taxes, transit, waste Management, housing, crumbling infrastructure in some parts, traffic speed and noise in some areas, closures of streets without having construction work, drug addiction, homelessness, racism and hate crimes are some of the issues that I've been told by the citizens.

Tax Hikes are not Sustainable

Getting other sources are revenue for the city, One of the Ideas

Know your Neighbour

Know your neighbour, get people out of isolation, reduce mental stress and hate crimes.

You need a representative that will support your ideas, fight for the needs of community and earn your respect. Someone who truly cares for your community.

    The Plan

Why Do I Want To Be Part of City Council

You may have heard of soulmates who upon meeting may feel as if they have known eachother for years, and belong with eachother - that is what I have felt with Edmonton and decided to raise my family here.  I may not have been born or raised here, but the affiliation and possessiveness I feel towards this city wants me to put our Edmonton on the world map.  My trained eye not only looks, but beholds.  And trust me, our Edmonton has so much potential.

    The Vision

My vision for the city spans the horizon, but my potential mandates may impose limits to it.  Among the salient points for my agenda are the following:

    Improvement in Quality of Life

    • Quality of life is both individual and communal. The quality of life that our municipal government is responsible for can be improved upon the better understanding of the issues at hand, with a will to provide solutions, and execute plans. Not only will it improve mental and physical health and our surroundings, but enhance our personal and communal security.
    • Some of the neighborhoods in our city are decrepit. Notwithstanding the economic disparities, the neighborhoods need to be revamped to a decent level.
    • Infrastructure and services need to be improved in certain areas. Potholes and sidewalks are issues to address.
    • The traffic situation in some areas and mass transit routes need revamping.
    • Waste management services can be bettered by cleanup of the back allies and making the ECO Stations more accessible.
    • There is substantial traffic noise in areas within the city, especially near the Anthony Henday Drive, Whitemud Drive and LRT lines. Feasible options to reduce noise should be explored.
    • Sections of the gateway boulevard do not do justice to the aesthetics of our beautiful city. Those areas in particular need to be improved and made attractive.

    Affordable Housing

In conjunction to making our Edmonton an inviting place, I also envisage to make this city a safe and content place for the current residents.  Affordable housing is close to my heart and needed in the city. I have ideas to produce cost effective residential units for low income families.

Source of Revenue Generation for the City

Continuous Tax hike is not a sustainable approach. Edmonton may be the province's capital, but hasn’t been given the respect in the world of metropolises as it truly deserves.  The Rockies may have missed us by a few miles, but that gives us reason to bring our talent and brains together so as to make the city a magnet for other reasons.  We need something that is a Signature to Edmonton.  From Signature events and attractions, to international engagements.

Tourism can be another source of Revenue Generation for the city.

    Poverty Alleviation

Plans to reduce poverty, drug addiction and homelessness in the City of Edmonton

    Racism and Hate Crimes

There is blessing in unity. We  condemn divisive politics and discrimination of all sorts whether it be directed at religion, ethnicity, or sexual orientation. The narrative of US versus THEM is dangerous and needs to be condemned and defeated. Communities need to be brought together and in unison should send a clear message to the perpetrators of hate and their supporters. We as a community should make their days numbered and vow to prevail.

    Photo Radars

I am not in favour of the use of Photo Radars for the safety of our streets, it costs a lot and doesn’t help making the streets safer, Driver (Speed) Feedback Signs or DFSs are effective. They are low cost and used in urban centres throughout the world. They give feedback by flashing the speed of the vehicle to the drivers. According to a University of Alberta study. In the city localities where the DFSs are installed, speed related collisions have reduced to 32% and to almost 45%  in some areas in the last 10 years.
